as most of you know, i'm an american living in germany.

here is why i will not be getting the swine flu vaccine here: merkel, her cabinet, associates, the german military, and celebrities, will be getting the "good" vaccine (imported from the u.s.), and the rest of us peasants will be given a potentially toxic alternative jab containing mercury, among other nasty things. most doctors are in an uproar and are telling their patients that the benefits of the german (non-elite) vaccine do not out-weigh the risks.

president obama today declared swine flu a national emergency -- to allow hospitals and clinics to begin making preparations for triage. current stats in u.s.: millions have been infected since april, 20,000 currently in hospital, 1,000 dead since august 29th.

if you live in the u.s., please get your vaccine if you're in a high-risk group, primarily children over 3 years, and young adults to 24. the vaccines are apparently quite safe - or the german elite wouldn't have bought them from the u.s. pharmacy -- if you can find one, that is -- only one-tenth of the needed doses in america are available so far. in seattle, they should be there on the 30th. be prepared to wait in line, and possibly still not be able to get the vaccine, even if you are high-risk.) here is the seattle website with hotline number that will give out locations:

2 of my fine art photos have been requested by the "southeast center for photographic studies" at daytona college, florida, to be included in an exhibition in october and november.

afterwards, the "southeast museum of photography" wishes to add them to their permanent collection. :)))

now i just need the time to prepare them and send them in!

is reincarnation possible? tibetans think so, believing their spiritual leader, the dalai lama, is the 14th reincarnation of the same god-king. but china has banned the dalai lama and tibet's other living buddhas from - get this - reincarnating without government permission.

the 14-part edict also prevents anyone outside china from taking part in the process to recognize a living buddha.

the rules seem ridiculous, but they aim to prevent the exiled dalai lama, 72, from helping identify newly reincarnated buddhas, allowing china to handpick people loyal to beijing.

as a member of "Mensa" since the late 70's, i was thrilled to read this:

"A two-year-old girl from Hampshire has become the youngest ever female member of British Mensa.

Georgia Brown, from Aldershot, Hampshire, astounded experts by scoring 152 in an IQ test - putting her in the top 2% of the population for her age.

Marilyn vos Savant-Jarvik is currently the smartest human being on the planet. Looks like another girl will be her rival soon. :)

anne rice's new book

i have completed anne rice's new book, "Christ the Lord, Out of Egypt." i believe i was wholly objective and open to what she had to say. i was ready to be "wowed" even. alas, it was not to be. somehow, ms. rice managed to make christ's childhood seem absolutely boring. endless descriptions of deserts, rivers, hillsides. litany after litany. it might better have been titled: 5,000 ways to give thanks to THE LORD. given whose alleged childhood we are talking about here, there was so very much more that could have been said and done. it was written in the first person, which i usually enjoy, but even though it was told from christ's supposedly adult point of view, it always felt as though a (rather simple) child was telling the story. and that's after rice goes on and on telling us how brilliant christ appeared to all of his teachers. i know that some of you whom i love deeply adored this book, but for the life of me, i can't fathom why. i tried to like it. i really did. but in the end, it only made me yawn, and think "is that all there is?" recommendation? if you're curious, wait until it comes out in paperback, or re-read her best book (in my opinion) "Memnoch the Devil."
